The Holy Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible word of God and is therefore the basis for any Statement of Faith. However, since most churches subscribe to the above statement, we believe it is both prudent and useful to adhere to certain Biblical statements and confessions in order that the doctrinal beliefs of this church may be clearly known. Providence chooses for its statement of faith the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. We consider this document to be an excellent expression of the teaching of the Word of God. We find it to be a confirmation of faith, a means of edification, an aid in controversy, and a basis for church unity. However, we acknowledge, without hesitation or reservation, that the Scriptures alone are God-inspired and therefore must be the supreme authority in all matters of belief and practice.
